About me
Hi, I'm Selma, and I'm a web developer, graphic designer and self-taught artist from Norway.
I make primarily hyper-realistic drawings (though my old ink & marker illustrations outnumber them) with professional colored pencils and pastels, and paper of the finest quality from originals to prints. I focus on everything from fruits and plants and wildlife, to portraits of people and pets. Every artwork is created to capture both personality and emotion as a whole.
The drawings are built layer for layer, with a lot of time spent on making the piece as true to its reference as possible. The choice of colors, stencil planning and overall size is something I put a lot of time and effort in before starting a project.
Alongside colored pencils and pastels, I also create freehand illustrations using ink and markers. These artworks are inspired by houses, emotions and abstract ideas, and give more room for interpretation. You can read more about each of my artworks in the Artwork Gallery
Nature plays an important role in the subjects chosen for my work. Living in Norway means nature, wildlife and forests are always close by, making it easy to find new motifs and inspiration, and impossible to take a walk without noticing every single leaf.
Outside of drawing, life revolves around family as a wife and mother of two young children, who more often than not wants to be outside in nature. Thanks to them I've noticed many beautiful things in nature that I would've missed if it weren't for them.
If you would like to follow the process behind the pieces, the development of future drawings will be shared on Instagram and YouTube.
